Date: Apr 11, 2024

Location: Mission Fire Station No 2

City: Mission

State: TX

Number of species found: 9

Observed no photo: Red Saddlebags

New finds: Tawny Pennant

Notes:

Warm day, 93 degrees, gentle wind. Parked at the fire station and spent about an hour searching the city ponds for odes. I have photographed here several times before, but this time I met, and had a pleasant conversation with, one of the city supervisors. He was concerned with my presence around the water area. I explained what I was doing and we agreed that, in the future, I would call him and check to see if the city could allow me permission to photograph in that area. Have always found a nice variety of Odonata at this site. Hope we can work out a plan.

Excited to land a photo of the Tawny Pennant. This is only the second find of this species in the US this year. The first was in southern Florida, mine is the first in Texas.
