Wheel
While mating, dragonflies and damselflies form, what is called, a “wheel”. The male uses the appendages at the end of his abdomen to grasp the female behind the head. The female then curls her abdomen forward until the tip rests against the sex organs of the male. Depending on the species, this process may take less than a minute or several hours.
